Did you know that when and how you eat is as important than what you eat for maintaining strong digestion, good health, and maintaining a healthy weight? Or that simply eating consciously is a powerful weight management tool? And, perhaps most critical and least surprising, every one of us is different and has different needs for food, sleep, and exercise.

In Self-care for Self-healing, we will apply ancient wisdom to modern living for greater vitality and well-being. Based in Ayurveda, sister science to yoga, this class will help you understand your unique constitution and how to tailor your lifestyle to best support your body and mind.

In this four week series, we’ll cover the fundamentals of Ayurvedic wisdom. From there, we will learn and experience a variety of techniques and practices to support health, including conscious eating; daily and seasonal rhythms; skin care; relaxation and stress management techniques; breathing exercises; and meditation.

Instructor(s)

Kristine Backes left a corporate communications career in 2010 to deepen her study of yoga, its sister science Ayurveda, and other nature-based mind-body-soul care traditions. Her education included two journeys to India followed by several years as a partner in a natural health clinic in Portland, when she returned to the Montana mountains for a lifetime of nature learning.

Kristine offers consultations, workshops, and mentoring rooted in nature-based healing traditions. She loves to show people how to listen to their own wisdom by moving closer to harmony with nature, whether through diet, lifestyle, astrology, or other traditional methods of connecting with the natural world around us. Kristine is a registered yoga teacher and holds a master's degree in organizational leadership.

Kristine has been a part time resident of the Livingston area since she was four years old and is thrilled to now call Livingston her full-time home.
