I Should Write a Book! Self-Publishing Made Easy

Registration is closed for this event

Are you a first-time author, or would you like to be? This will be a valuable overview of the many skills and industries involved. These include: Manuscript writing in Word, successful fiction and non-fiction word-crafting, editing, proofreading, typesetting, book layout, cover design, and illustrations. Preparing blurbs, endorsements and marketing materials. Procuring the ISBN, bar code and copyrighting. Getting printer quotes. Working with Amazon, Kindle, Nook and iBook to publish as an e-book. We'll explore your options for Print On Demand, Google eBookstore, and short-run printing. And finally, we'll explore your sales and marketing options for self-promotion (getting online and in-print interviews and reviews, etc.).

You will learn which parts of this you can (and must) do on your own, and which parts you should seek an expert. As a guideline, we'll be using Peter Bowerman's book, The Well-Fed Self-Publisher, including his very detailed time-line and checklists. After completing this 4-week (8-hour) class, you will realize that writing and publishing your own book is totally doable!

We’ll also get some video training from Jack Canfield and his marketing team. Jack wrote the Chicken Soup of the Soul series and is one of the most world’s most successful and prolific authors. He gives many tips for success, both with traditional and self-publishing options.

IF YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO write a book but didn't know where or how to get started, this class is for you. If you want to get involved in any of these desktop-publishing fields yourself, THIS CLASS IS FOR YOU.

Denis Ouellette is currently the creator of a health magazine, "Natural Life News & Directory" and the author and self-publisher of his own book entitled "Heal Yourself." He has functioned as a publishing consultant, editor and graphic artist for 17 years and has taken many first-time authors all the way through from their raw manuscripts to a finished and printed book (and e-books). This has included publishing everything from small booklets to major works. He has done the editing, typesetting and layout as well as the cover design and illustrations, and working with printers and preparing e-books. He is actively engaged with and well connected to various experts in the field who can be brought in as needed, such as proofreaders, web designers, and/or marketing and sales experts.
