Create edible windbreaks, hedging and linear food forests as self-maintaining gardens. We will cover design, ground and soil prep, planting, mulching, watering, harvesting and provide a selection of adaptable plants for our climate zone. Our permaculture demonstration site will be prepped, ready to install a portion of an edible windbreak for participant “hands on” experience.

The goal is to provide you with a plant list appropriate for our climatic zone, learn positioning of plant placement for production, privacy and/or wind protection and provide necessary information for successful planting so you can duplicate an edible foodscape wherever you choose.

The workshop will be presented by Mona Lewis based on the work of a Canadian food forest pioneer, Richard Walker, author of Food Forestry, North of the 49th (parallel).
