Residential Landscape Design

Registration is closed for this event

A six-week course to introduce residents to the principals of landscape design.  This unique program meets in the field the first five weeks to look at properties of some of students.  Bonnie will have the property owner tell the class some of the limitations of the property and what their objective is for the site.  Then, as a group, we will walk the property and Bonnie will give the class suggestions on how to deal with the limitations and ideas to highlight site opportunities.

After five weeks of site visits and landscaping ideas, students will be ready for a lecture that will tie everything together in a cohesive manner.  After the lecture, we will have a question and answer time where students can inquire about the lecture topics or issues regarding the various site visits.

If students are interested in having their property added to the list for a site visit, they need to submit the following information with their registration.

  • Name
  • Property Address
  • Approximate Size of Property (1/4 Acre etc)
  • Phone Number
  • Location on Property (Front, Side or Back Yard)
  • Property Issues: (Drainage Problem, Privacy Needed, Noise Buffer, Wind Barrier, Updating the Hardscaping, New Walkways Needed after Renovations, Landscaping Updated, Vegetable Garden Needed, Landscape Lighting, Fencing, etc)

All students need to provide an email address with their registration.  The week before class is to begin, a schedule will be emailed to all students.  It will outline where we meet each week and all the properties to be visited that night.  Selection will be made according to 1) property issues, 2) geographic location, 3) first come first serve.  If we have several properties that are close together then we will visit more than one property per night.   We can’t visit everyone’s property so I try to select sites that will provide the best teaching opportunity.

Bonnie Watton opened Secluded Gardens in July of 1997 in the state of Pennsylvania. For twenty-one years Secluded Gardens worked with residential customers and landscape contractors to create outdoor living spaces for our clients. Having relocated to Livingston, Montana in August of 2017, we are now looking forward to beautifying properties under the big sky.

As a landscape designer, Bonnie specializes in helping customers transform their properties into a personal oasis for their family to enjoy. With the use of terraces, natural stone patios, pergolas, arbors, gazebos, ponds, dry stream beds, landscape lighting, landscaping and specialty gardens, she will make your dreams come true.
